NOTE:All the windows must be closed for correct motion sensing operation. NOTE:The inclination sensing feature must be disarmed before raising the vehicle on a hoist to prevent false alarms. Perimeter Alarm System The perimeter alarm system is designed to warn the driver in the event of an unauthorized entry to the vehicle and is also designed to help prevent the unwanted towing of the vehicle.

NOTE:The perimeter alarm system includes a motion detection system that monitors the vehicle interior and a vehicle inclination sensor that detects changes in vehicle inclination. The interior motion detection and vehicle inclination sensing system operate only when the vehicle is locked using the RKE transmitter or when using the door lock control switch with the accompanying door open and all the doors are then closed. For vehicles with a convertible top, the top must be in the fully closed and latched position for the interior motion sensing system to arm.

If the vehicle is locked using the key in the driver door lock cylinder, the system monitors the doors, luggage compartment lid, and hood but the interior motion and the vehicle inclination sensing does not arm.

Do not arm the interior motion detection system if movement within the vehicle is likely to occur. Do not arm the vehicle inclination sensing system when the vehicle is in transport. For correct operation of the interior motion detection system, make sure all the windows are closed prior to arming the system.

Each encoded ignition key must be programmed into the vehicle powertrain control module PCM before it can be used to start the engine.

There are special diagnostic procedures that must be carried out if new encoded ignition keys are to be configured. The encoded key is larger than a traditional ignition key.

The key does not require batteries and should last the life of the vehicle. The transceiver module communicates with the encoded ignition key. This module is located behind the steering column shroud and contains an antenna connected to a small electronic module. During each vehicle start sequence, the transceiver module reads the encoded ignition key identification code and sends the data to the PCM.

The control functions are contained in the PCM.

It only takes a minute to sign up. Just bought an 03 Mustang from an auction and took it on a trip. That worked a few times and I thought it would continue to work until I got home where I would get it looked at. Unfortunately it stopped working altogether and I had to tow it to a dealership. I asked them to disable the anti-theft system altogether but they tell me that's not an option and I have to fix it. A call to my regular mechanic who I trust confirmed that they were telling the truth.

However, I've seen webpages talking about 'tunes' and 'tuners' I have no idea what that is though you can get to disable it and referencing Mustangs specifically and I'm pretty sure one page was even specifically talking about the '03 Mustang. So my question is: Is there a way to just disable the anti-theft system? I'm not worried about anyone stealing my car but I definitely don't wanted to get stranded several states way from home ever again so if there's a way to do it I'd sure like to know.

If you want to bypass your antitheft, you can attach one of your PATS keys inside your steering collumn by the lock cylinder. This will make the car always 'see' a key with a chip. You caqn then use a regular steel key. This is also a 'cheater' fix when installing remote starts on cars with PATS so you don't need to buy a module.

You would probably have to have someone recode your ECU, as they are usually intertwined with the anti-theft system to ensure the engine will not start. I don't think they can really be disabled easily thought. Cars with systems like this can be triggered by bad keys as well, so check that out. The key can and will go bad, and this could make you think the car is acting up.

The install tech calls me half way through the project and informs me that my car will not start now.

He says that all he did was install the LED light, install the siren, cut the door lock wires to hook it up to the alarm, and install a panic button. He was going to cut the wire to the starter to hook up the starter kill in the new alarm, and went to turn the car on and it wouldn't start.

He hadn't cut the starter wire yet he said. The car functions properly in every way except when you try to start it. There is absolutely no cranking or clicking or anything. Seems to me that the PATS anti-theft system is not allowing the engine to start, but wouldn't the theft light be on if this was the case? Is there a way to test if it is PATS system blocking access to the starter? Is there a way to reset it without having to tow it to a dealer? The theft light should be flashing fast if you have a PATS issue.

It means PATS does not recognize the key you are using. Did the technician cut the transceiver wire around your ignition lock cylinder? It was installed on some mustangs if I remember.

I think the GT had it But as Rakel said, if the PATS system was tripped, the theft light under the speedometer should be blinking real quick. But my guess is like everyone else and possible installer error or other issues. Sounds like the Best Buy installer has a problem. I would guess they owe you a loaner until they can figure out the problem.

The installer had better put things back the way they were and start over on the install. The active anti-theft system is designed to warn you in the event of unauthorized vehicle entry and is also designed to help prevent unwanted towing of the vehicle. Lock the vehicle using the remote control or the power door lock control with the accompanying door open and then close all doors.

Note: Do not choose full monitor mode if movement within the vehicle is likely to occur or when the vehicle is in transport. Note: For proper operation of the interior motion detection system, ensure all windows are closed prior to arming the system.

Cisco commands list

The turn signal lamps will flash once when all doors, the hood and the trunk are closed indicating the vehicle is locked and entering the 20 second countdown. If any closure is not properly closed, the turn signal lamps will not flash and that closure will not be armed. This will only shut off the horn and turn lamps when the alarm is sounding. The alarm system will still be armed.

Pressing the power door unlock control within the 20 second prearmed mode will return the vehicle to a disarmed state. Note : Unlocking the trunk inhibits the motion sensing system but the system continues to monitor the doors, hood and vehicle incline.
